Congratulations to LTM’s CEO, Dhevan Pillay for being nominated as the 2020 EASA President (ESCo Association of South Africa).

The ESCo register is an important tool to facilitate the market development and growth of ESCo’s in RSA and will be utilized by both the public and private sector organisations to identify, plan, develop, finance or implement energy efficiency projects, including energy efficiency demand side management (EEDSM) and small-scale renewable energy embedded generation.

Using an ESCo allows you to outsource energy management to dedicated technical experts who will focus on identifying and delivering maximum energy savings. ESCOs have experience in auditing to investigate your needs, integrating single or multiple efficiency measures, reducing technical and performance risks, and can provide financial options to suit your project. This website aims to assist organisations to choose a reputable ESCo.

AL 3 Boerdery goes green!

LTM proposed a Solar PV system to supply power to the pumps. A decision was made to deviate from the conventional AC systems. Variable speed drives (VSDs) are fed directly from the PV panels, setting the frequency for normal 50Hz pumps. Not only is this a cheaper system, but it is more robust and needs less maintenance. The inclusion of the VSD’s enables the pumps to operate for an additional 2 hours a day with no storage, by capturing the early morning and late afternoon sunshine as well, when the PV system is not operating at full capacity. After a successful pilot, the client entered into a PPA agreement. The system has been commissions and is producing more water than expected – more than 7 hours per day (even in winter), producing 1920 m3/hour – upwards of 15 000 m3 of water per a day. Client expectations have been exceeded and they are currently looking into a mass PV rollout across 6 more farms.
